Hi All,
Monday was our 30th anniversary and we are 48 years old now. We have never been any closer to each other. Yes, that is my wife Connie and I in the Tribes main photograph. It was my high school graduation and nine months before we got married..... Maybe one out of 50 expressed any hope for us to make it.
I miss my hair :-)
Enjoy your spouse and remind them how you feel and accept that there will be times when one of you may seem to be in left field.
The society we live in is stressful and cares nothing (and teaches nothing) about family values. I was recently asked in front of a large audience "what is the secret to a long happy marriage." I said "don't expect too much."
Many people seemed shocked by my response. I would say it again because once we buy into the TV land marriage where everyone has a ten body and millions of dollars without having to work, the game is over. So many people seem to marry an illusion of constant and effortless happiness and when the party is over, it's time for a divorce.
I am so thankful my wife showed up in 1972, our souls have been connected ever since and they will be until we leave this earth.

Re: Anniversary
Wed, March 8, 2006 - 10:24 PMSadly neither of us can remember the first. I have kept calendars, notebooks, day planners, and various files from every year. We were poor working kids so I doubt we did anything but buy a six pack.

Re: Anniversary
Wed, March 8, 2006 - 10:38 PMCongrats!
This has inspired me to re-gather the info on my 15 wedding anniversaries, so that when I'm on number 60, I'll be able to look back at all of the fun things we'd done : ). My first anniversary was spent at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado. This hotel was the inspiration for the Stephen King novel, The Shining. We tried to book the room number that had the creepy old lady from the film in it, but it doesn't exist in the real hotel <lol>. Still, it was fun sneaking through the halls at night, spooking one another! We've had much more luxe anniversaries since, but that one will always be special to us.
